[00:00:00] Most people seem to go through life at a frantic pace, trying to accomplish more and more and more in a 24 hour period without ever getting a whole lot done. Researchers have concluded that it's not time management that we need to incorporate into our daily routines, but attention management, attention management is the concept that you control.

[00:00:21] What gets your attention based on what's most important to you. Pretty simple, right? Or as we've always said here at the Fallible Man, if it's important, you'll find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse. Well, what does that mean for relationships? Well, let's find out. Won't waste another, won't. Here's the million dollar question.

[00:00:46] How do men like us reach our full potential? Growing to the men we dream of being while taking care of our responsibilities. Working, being good husbands, fathers, and still take care of ourselves. Well, that's the big question in this podcast. We'll help you answer those questions and more. My name is Brent and welcome to the Fallible Man Podcast.

[00:01:09] On mission. I recently had been doing a fundraiser with my daughter, the 50 Mile Ruck Marsh Challenge for Stop Soldier suicide. Say that three times fast. While we were walking, I put her on the spot the other day doing an Instagram story for my coaching account. I asked her, what does it look like to have a good relationship with your parents?

[00:01:29] She talked about some of the things we do. Then she got to the key statement. They make time for us. Relationships seem complicated, but really they don't have to be. It might be a parent, a friend, a romantic relationship, or just being a good coworker. They all require the same thing. Attention management.

[00:01:53] Oh, and , welcome to the Fallible Man Podcast. You're home for all things, man. That's what we talk about here. If this is your first time, welcome to the podcast and of course, loved all of my fallible nation out there that helped support this. My name is Brent and I am the fallible man. So what is it I'm actually going on about here?

[00:02:11] Attention management. Attention management models show you how to change your priorities. To what you desire, allow you to take control of your life and help you to stop multitasking so you can actually get things done. There are so many ways this management technique can help to change your day.

[00:02:31] Possibly more importantly, though, there are many ways this model can help improve your relationships. Relationships are incredibly important and attention management really is. Relationship management. So let's simplify it just a little bit. Attention management teaches you not to split your focus, right?

[00:02:55] Everybody's big into multitasking. Attention management teaches you not to split Your focus teaches you to declutter, to prioritize what you really want to accomplish, to be present in what you are doing so you can produce higher quality. Because you're not distracted, making you more efficient at doing things along the way.

[00:03:16] This is also the practical way you approach relationships. All relationships want the same thing. People want your undivided attention. They want your time. They want to feel important, like you're prioritized. They want to be. Present. They want you to be present, I should say, when you're interacting with them, and because of all that, you have a higher level of connection with them because of those things.

[00:03:43] Now, here's the crux. You only have so many cycles. We've talked often about quality time versus quantity time. You can only give it two relationships that are most important because it's a finite resource and everybody knows it. If you wanna have powerful, deep, strong, and connected relationships in your life, then intention management is relationship management.

[00:04:10] Decide who in your life is a non-negotiable. They're the most important things to you. They're the most important people to you, I should say. And make sure that they're getting the right level of attention from you. You only have so much of it, so invest it wisely cuz everybody's fighting for it. Bonus, cut out the crap that steals your attention so you have more attention to give to the people who actually matter.

[00:04:36] Now if this is resonating with you here at the Fallible Man, our Relationship Builders Group Coaching course is the perfect program for anyone who wants to build deeper, more meaningful connections with the important people in their lives. We'll guide you through a series of exercises and strategies designed to help you communicate more effectively, understand your own needs and desires.

[00:04:55] Cultivate empathy and emotional intelligence and develop new habits and routines that prioritize quality time with the people you care about. The next session starts since June, so sign up today to reserve your spot over on my website. Now guys, you have to remember the big takeaway of this is this, where you put your attention may be the most important thing you do for your relationships.

[00:05:20] Attention management is relationship management. People know very clearly that if they matter to you, they will get more of your attention. So prioritize the people that matter the most and work backwards from there. And I promise that prioritize attention will make a huge difference in your relationships.
